Bloodwork Services for Pets

All types of patients including senior pets, puppies, kittens, and those undergoing different types of procedures can all benefit from blood tests. Our veterinary practice holds a complete diagnostic laboratory, allowing us to run your pet’s bloodwork in house for immediate results. We also use outside laboratories for more advanced or specific results. Bloodwork screening is a necessary tool to detect underlying diseases that can often be difficult to detect during examination. For more questions, feel free to reach out to our team by phone!

Why are blood tests important for my cat’s or dog’s health?

There are certain types of vital information that we can only obtain from a sample of your pet’s blood. More often than not, routine blood tests are part of your loyal companion’s regular wellness exams. Some of the factors and conditions that we can identify through blood tests are diseases as well as immune response and hydration levels.

What are some of the blood tests that are performed at your practice?

Some in hospital testing we perform are as follows: Complete Blood Counts, Blood-Chemistry Panels, Urinalysis, Fecal Testing for Intestinal Parasites, FELV/FIV Testing, Occult Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma Testing, Electrolyte Evaluation, and Cytology of skin and ears.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

If the test is analyzed in house, we can usually provide you with results in about 2-hours time. For more specialized cases, we may need to send your pet’s blood exam to an independent laboratory. In these circumstances, it can take about 2 to 3 business days for us to receive the findings of the exam.

How often should blood tests be done?

It truly depends on each patient and their unique health condition. As always, you are welcome to contact our team if you have any concerns about your pet’s bloodwork, as well as other factors about their health and well-being.
