Euthanasia Services for Pets

Making the decision to say goodbye to your pet is one of the most difficult decisions to make as an owner. From quality-of-life to end-of-life, we are here to support you the entire way. Our priority always is to make euthanasia as peaceful as possible for your beloved pet. If you have any further questions about this procedure, please do not hesitate to call us at 613.622.1700 to speak with members of our team.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Euthanasia is the act of putting an animal to rest. Knowing when it is the right time can be challenging for most pet owners. We recommend you reach out to one of our veterinarians to discuss the quality of life of your pet. During a private consultation, you will be able to better understand if this is the right option for your pet.

Can I stay with my cat or my dog during euthanasia?

We encourage our owners to stay with their pets for the entire process. We offer at-home euthanasia if it would be more comfortable. There are also times when it can be too difficult for an owner(s) to stay. At your request, we will provide the last bit of love until your pet’s final breath.

Can I say goodbye to my pet in the comfort of our home?

Yes. Because of the nature of the appointment, we understand why being at home would provide more comfort for everyone. We have even done it in a backyard under a favourite tree. Please reach out to our office if this is right for your family.

How is the euthanasia drug administered?

Our veterinarian(s) will walk you through it step-by-step as they proceed to the final injection. The drug is given intravenously and takes effect immediately.

Does your hospital provide bereavement counselling?

Our team is always here to listen. We understand how hard it can be as many of us have been through it ourselves. We also offer various types of aftercare options from burial to cremation along with many memorial products to choose from. The affiliated crematorium also offers cremation viewings and the option to visit gravesites. With many options available we hope to provide you with the much-needed closure and comfort in the days ahead.
