Surgical Services for Pets

The team at Gillies Grove Animal Hospital performs a variety of soft tissue surgeries including spays and neuters, mass removals, biopsies, gastrointestinal surgeries, wound repair, enucleation and more! Don’t forget oral care! Tooth extractions and oral fracture repairs are performed on top of routine dental cleaning and polishing here at our practice. We also use the expertise of mobile surgery specialists that come right to our hospital to perform more complicated surgeries, like orthopedics. As always, you are welcome to call us to learn more about our services and to schedule your next appointment.

What can I expect when my pet is discharged from surgery?

Postoperatively, our veterinary team will monitor your pet’s recovery and healing. Follow up visits are also an important part of the procedure to ensure our patients are comfortable and doing well once they are home.

How long can pet surgeries take?

The exact duration of your furry friend’s procedure depends on so many factors such as the type of surgery they are getting, as well as their specific health condition. On average, surgeries can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours.

How can I prepare my pet for surgery?

Before the actual procedure, your veterinarian will carefully explain everything that you have to do to get your pet ready for their procedure. These measures can vary significantly from pet to pet. The most common pre-operative measures that we ask from owners are to not give their pet any food the night before their procedure and to make sure they arrive on time for their surgery.
